English through Fine Arts is an ESP textbook designed primarily for advanced learners of the English language studying at tertiary level, who may be following studies in music, film, the visual arts, drama & performance arts, or any other course of study in which Fine Arts form a part. Working through the material the students will hopefully get a solid grasp of the specialized language of their area of interest, and thus find their way through this ‘dense verbal smog’ that is essential for a deeper understanding of the Fine Arts. The material may also appeal in general to anyone who is interested in the Fine Arts and would like to engage with the texts in an exciting and challenging way. The book contains authentic texts that stress the interdisciplinary element in the study of the Arts. Each of the thirty extended units contains two to four main reading passages, comprehension and vocabulary exercises, a language focus section, and discussion questions. The texts touch upon various fields of art and are taken from a wide variety of sources. At the end of several units there is a section comprising broader and more adventurous activities, the aim of which is to engage the students in more open and free-spirited tasks and activities.

Απευθύνεται επίσης γενικότερα σε οποιονδήποτε ενδιαφέρεται για τις Καλές Τέχνες και θα ήθελε να προσεγγίσει και να κατανοήσει κείμενα που σχετίζονται άμεσα με τον χώρο αυτό στην αγγλική γλώσσα. Η ύλη του βιβλίου προϋποθέτει την πολύ καλή γνώση της αγγλικής γλώσσας και περιλαμβάνει αυθεντικά κείμενα που προέρχονται από ένα ευρύ πεδίο πηγών, όπως θεωρητικά κείμενα, κριτικές τέχνης, αναλύσεις και σχόλια συγκεκριμένων έργων, και άλλα. Κάθε κείμενο συνοδεύεται από ασκήσεις κατανόησης και λεξιλογίου. Σε αρκετά κεφάλαια τα κείμενα συνοδεύονται επίσης από ένα περισσότερο ανοικτό και ελεύθερο τύπο δραστηριοτήτων το θέμα των οποίων είναι σχετικό με το θέμα που διαπραγματεύεται το κάθε κεφάλαιο.
