Η Βασιλική Μαρκάκη έχει σπουδάσει Πολιτιστική Διαχείριση, Οργάνωση και Διοίκηση Μουσείων, Ιστορία της Τέχνης και Διεθνείς Σχέσεις στην Ελλάδα και την Αγγλία. Στο παρελθόν συνεργάστηκε με μουσεία Φυσικής Ιστορίας στην Αθήνα και το Λονδίνο, και με την Βρετανική Επιτροπή για την Επιστροφή των Γλυπτών του Παρθενώνα για το σχεδιασμό της εκστρατείας για την επιστροφή των Γλυπτών του Παρθενώνα. Επιπλέον συνεργάστηκε με το Ελληνικό Γραφείο του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου για το οποίο σχεδίασε εκπαιδευτικές δράσεις και πακέτα δραστηριοτήτων για σχολικές ομάδες και για οικογένειες. Από το 2017 εργάζεται στο Μουσείο Κυκλαδικής Τέχνης ως συντονίστρια του προγράμματος eLearning του Μουσείου.
