Bourdieu, Pierre, 1930-2002
Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002): Σπούδασε φιλοσοφία στην Ecole Normale Superieure στο Παρίσι. Το 1964 γίνεται Διευθυντής Ερευνών στην Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, όπου το 1968 ιδρύει το Centre de Sociologie Europeenne. Την ίδια χρονιά γίνεται διευθυντής της σειράς Le Sens Commun των εκδόσεων Minuit, ενώ το 1975 ιδρύει και διευθύνει το περιοδικό Actes de la recherche en sciences sociales. Από το 1981 κατείχε την έδρα της Kοινωνιολογίας στο College de France. Το 1989 ιδρύει και διευθύνει την ευρωπαϊκή επιθεώρηση βιβλίου "Liber", το 1997 τη σειρά "Liber" στις εκδόσεις Seuil και το 1996 τον εκδοτικό οίκο Raisons d’Agir. Τα σαράντα και πλέον χρόνια διεθνούς επιστημονικής παρουσίας παρήγαγαν ένα τεράστιο επιστημονικό έργο εμπειρικής και θεωρητικής έρευνας το οποίο, μεταφραζόμενο στις περισσότερες χώρες του κόσμου, ενέπνευσε ένα σημαντικό αριθμό ερευνών σε όλους τους επιστημονικούς κλάδους. Ο πιο πολυμεταφρασμένος επιστήμονας του τέλους του εικοστού αιώνα, στοχαστής με παγκόσμια αναγνώριση και έργο που σημαδεύει τη συζήτηση των ιδεών στον αιώνα μας, ο Bourdieu είναι ταυτόχρονα και ο μαχητικός διανοούμενος που στρατεύεται στις πιο σημαντικές υποθέσεις του καιρού μας.
